After seeing a few very cool Business Central features the other day, I was so impressed and in such a good mood that I might have posted a slightly overly enthusiastic tweet.
Can't a guy be in a really good mood? |
Does Business Central do my dishes? My laundry? Paint my house?
Sadly, it does not. Yet. 😉
But it does do lots of awesome things and it has some amazing features and benefits. And after posting my happy tweet, I think a few people are wondering why I think Business Central is so amazing.
So now I feel obligated to explain why I think it's amazing, and in the process, share my enthusiasm for the new ERP platform that I'm learning about.
Reason #1: Automatic Upgrades
I shouldn't have to explain why this is absolutely, indisputably amazing.
If you don't think it's amazing, find out how much it costs to have a consulting firm upgrade an on premises ERP system with lots of data, lots of users, several third party products, and several customizations. Let me know how eager you are to pay that invoice.
And then ask some customers and consultants what it's like to do a Friday night upgrade, followed by spending the entire weekend getting everything working on the new version. And make sure to ask what it's like when you're well into the upgrade and you run into a database upgrade error on Saturday at 9pm. Definitely not amazing.
What's amazing is NOT spending a stressful Friday night and weekend upgrading software.
What's amazing is waking up late on Monday morning, sipping your freshly brewed coffee, and then glancing at your email to see this message. What's amazing is not even remembering that my BC tenant was going to be upgraded.
Every consultant should love this email |
Let's see, where was I during this upgrade to version 16.4?
I was playing a game at home (where else these days?) with my kids on Sunday, August 16 at 8:35pm Pacific time. We were having a great time, and I most definitely wasn't worrying about upgrading my ERP system. That's amazing.
And guess how much my Business Central version upgrade cost me.
Take a guess.
Yup. Zero dollars. I won't be receiving an invoice for my Business Central upgrade. That's amazing.
I didn't have to worry about database backups. Upgrade routines. Software installations. Having 8 people on call through the weekend. Losing sleep.
That's my kinda ERP system. Pretty amazing, if you ask me.
